Discovering modern Mexican cuisine downtown Mexico.

One of the first restaurant we went to was Azul, which serves high quality mexican food. It was recommended by a mexican friend of mine and I enjoyed it a lot!
What to eat?
I was happy to see that there were numerous vegetarian options. As a main course, I ordered Enchiladas de Jamaica orgánica, which are enchiladas stuffed with hibiscus (photo). The taste was quite unique and I loved it.
They also served dishes with insects, such as guacamole topped with grasshoppers or escamoles, the edible larvae and pupae of ants, but I did not feel adventurous enough to try. Maybe next time!
What else is nice about this place?
The setting is atmospheric: wooden tables are surrounded by trees draped with blue lights. You can watch a woman prepare tortillas by hand before the servers bring you baskets of the still-warm tortillas to tables.
Prices are a bit higher than standard mexican restaurants but it was totally worth it, I highly recommand this address. There are actually 3 Azul restaurants in Mexico City so you can surely find one nearby. And good news to those who don't master spanish, they have a menu in English as well.
