Vivien and I were looking for some day-trip idea from CDMX and we opted for a beautiful 43-arch and 438 meters high aqueduct, considered the largest in the world.

How to get there?

Created by the Jesuits at the beginning of the 18th century, the Arcos del Sitio are situated about 40min away from Tepotzotlán. Going to Tepotzotlán from Mexico City is quite easy, there are frequent buses from Terminal del Sur, that you can book on Reservamos.

On the other side, going from Tepotzotlán to Arcos del Sitio is actually a real nightmare! First, because there are very few to no buses going there during the week days and second, once you find a ride, the roads are badly damaged with numerous bumps and holes.

We actually waited for a bus which never showed up and ended up going there with uber. Along the way, we were feeling a bit discouraged, wondering what we were doing and how we were going to get back to the city. That bitter feeling disappeared once we arrived onsite and we saw this:

The view was beautiful and there was almost no one: we had the whole place to ourselves! The visit took a little more than an hour. You can actually walk on the aqueducts and there is a 2-3k circuit that lets you enjoy the view of the aqueduct and its flora (where my picture was taken).

There are also some activities to do onsite, such as zip line, but these were close the day of our visit. Even it was January, it was warm (28°C) and we were quite happy we had packed a lot of water.

Hi there, thanks for the information. Did you have to pay to enter or buy any tickets? Or is it available any time of the day to access?
